JJ Kane auctions feature surplus and retiring items that belong to governments, utility companies, contractors, manufacturers, lending institutions, and many other local, regional, and national fleet owners. We have auctions on a weekly basis and sell everything from heavy construction equipment to cars, pickup trucks, vans and SUVs. Search our inventory to see what is coming up for sale this week.
The #1 question we get – Are your auctions open to the public?
Yes, anyone can bid and buy in our auctions. Our auctions offer you direct access to the equipment and vehicles you need. There are hundreds of dealer-only auctions across the country but JJ Kane is different – you don’t have to be a dealer to buy something at our auctions. Here, you buy directly from the sellers, allowing buyers and sellers the ability to exchange equipment at a fair price.
Live Auctions: Live On-Site & Online
We conduct live auctions at our facilities throughout the country. You are able to bid on these items both on-site (in-person or by proxy) and online.
Our Live Auctions are Absolute
JJ Kane auctions are absolute, meaning that everything sells to the highest bidder, regardless of price. There are no minimums or reserves at an absolute auction, and owners are not allowed to bid on equipment they have consigned to the auction. Selling price is determined by the bidders participating in the auction, and no one else.
When You’re the Winning Bidder…
- On-Site Items – When you are the winning bidder for items on-site, JJ Kane will help you load your purchases or arrange for transportation, if required. All purchases are typically removed within 3 business days following the sale. Check the individual auction terms for more information.
- Off-Site Items – When you are the winning bidder for items off-site, we will help you arrange for load-out and transportation based on where the equipment is located. All purchases are typically removed within 3 business days following the sale.
Bidding In Person at Our Auctions
Inspecting the Equipment
One of the most valuable options our live auctions offer is allowing you the ability to inspect each item in person, before the auction. Inspection day is held the day before the sale, from 8AM (local time) until 4PM (local time). Once registered, bidders may obtain keys to vehicles and equipment so that they can start the engine (of motorized items) and carefully review each item’s condition. On-Site Registration
We keep bidder registration simple. Buyers only need to bring a couple of things to the auction. We require a valid, government-issued photo ID, and a method of payment. JJ Kane accepts cash, most major credit cards (in most states) and wire transfers. Check the local auction sale terms for specifics on whether we accept credit cards and the approved credit card types. Business or personal checks will be accepted when checks are accompanied by a Bank Letter of Credit guaranteeing payment of funds to JJ Kane Auctions.

Bidding Online Is The Easy Way To Purchase What You Need!

If you are unable to attend one of our auctions in person on sale day, you don’t have to miss the deals. Our online bidding service allows you to place your bid in real-time at any of our auctions.
Follow the steps below to get started:
Step 1: Create Your Account
Start by creating your online account and applying for the upcoming auctions that interest you. Online buyers should plan to register 3 days prior to each auction in order to allow sufficient time to be certain your account is set up and ready to go.
Step 2: Browse and Find the Items You Need
Search for the vehicles and equipment you need, in one of our upcoming auctions. Once you locate some items you are interested in, make a note of the Item Numbers (5-digits). Research them and decide your maximum bid amounts.
Step 3: Sign and Bid on Auction Day
As you bid online, you have the option of listening to the auctioneer live while you bid on items in real-time. As you bid, you will feel like you are right in the middle of the excitement—because you are! Bidding online is a great way to purchase the items you need, when you cannot be at the auction, in person.
Absentee Bidding
We make it easy, even if you cannot be at the auction.
We make it easy for you to bid on and buy the items you need, even if you cannot participate in the live auction! Buyers who are unable to bid live on sale day may place an absentee bid (also known as a book bid) in advance of the auction, on specific lots. Contact us to learn more and get your bid in for the items you need to buy.
How absentee bidding works:
Example: A buyer would like to bid on a backhoe, but cannot attend the sale. Prior to auction day, the buyer can inspect the item, register as a bidder, and deposit 25% of the maximum bid they would place on the item with JJ Kane. If the buyer’s maximum bid was $10,000, they would leave a deposit of $2500. Suppose the backhoe is up for sale, and the bidding opens at $7000, JJ Kane would bid on the buyer’s behalf, in increments at our discretion until the buyer was high, other bidding ceased and the buyer “purchased the unit.” Or, JJ Kane would bid on the buyer’s behalf until bidding passed their high bid amount of $10,000 and was sold to another buyer.
